The Centre des Monuments Nationaux has issued souvenir zero-euro notes through Oberthur Fiduciaire since the series began in 2015, selling them as collectibles at historic sites across France. They carry no monetary value and are not legal tender, but they are produced to genuine banknote specifications — security thread, watermark, and all — because French regulations require that anything denominated in euros meet those standards regardless of face value.
The Cloître Notre-Dame du Puy in Le Puy-en-Velay is a Romanesque cloister attached to the cathedral, itself a UNESCO World Heritage site and a major departure point on the Via Podiensis pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
