The zero euro souvenir note program launched in 2015 under the Union Européenne des Agents de Jouets et Jeux (UEAJ), with Oberthur Fiduciaire handling production — the same firm responsible for a significant portion of genuine euro banknote security printing. That detail is not incidental: the souvenir notes were deliberately manufactured to the same technical security specifications as legal tender, including embedded security threads and genuine intaglio printing, which is why forging one would paradoxically be harder than passing a real note. Blois was among the earliest sites in the inaugural rollout, sold exclusively on-site at the château.
