Euro Souvenir notes occupy an odd corner of notaphily — legal tender in form but souvenirs in practice, issued under a licensing arrangement with the European Central Bank that permits their production provided they bear face values not exceeding zero. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of Europe's principal security printers and long-time producer of genuine euro banknotes, handles the physical printing, which gives these pieces a production quality uncomfortably close to the real thing.

The Camargue edition was released in 2018 as part of the regional parks subseries. Collectibility within the Euro Souvenir program is largely driven by print run size and venue exclusivity — some regional issues were available only at a single visitor center.
