Biotropica, a zoological park in Val-de-Rouël, Normandy, has issued multiple zero-euro souvenir notes through the official programme administered by the Euro Banknote Memory collector scheme. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints these under licence using genuine euro security paper and features — watermarks, holograms, and microprinting — which is precisely why French customs and the Banque de France tolerate their existence: legally, a note denominated at zero is not money.
This is the second Biotropica issue, distinguishable from the first by its reverse design rather than any change in technical specification.
