The zero euro souvenir note series, launched by EuroCollectibles in 2015, has no legal tender status anywhere — it is a collector item sold at tourist sites, museums, and monuments, printed to official euro security specifications but issued purely as merchandise. Oberthur Fiduciaire produces the run under contract, applying the same anti-counterfeiting features used on circulating currency, which is partly the point: the tactile similarity to a real banknote is the product.
The Basílica del Pilar in Zaragoza is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Spain, built over a tradition dating to the first century AD — though the current baroque structure was begun in 1681 and is still technically unfinished.
