Bardejov's inclusion in this EuroSouvenir issue is well-earned — the Slovak town holds UNESCO World Heritage status for its exceptionally intact medieval urban core, one of the best-preserved Gothic town square complexes in Central Europe. Oberthur Fiduciaire has printed the bulk of the EuroSouvenir program since its commercial launch, applying genuine security printing techniques to what is legally a zero-denomination collectible: the notes are valid nowhere but are produced to banknote specification, which is precisely the point of the exercise.
The Bardejov issue is one of several hundred regional and thematic titles released under the program, which was formalized in 2015 and has since become its own collector subspecialty.
