Euro Souvenir notes are a legitimate collector product issued under license from the European Central Bank, which permits their production provided they are clearly non-negotiable. The Atomium was built for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair and was originally intended as a temporary structure — its survival and eventual landmark status were not assured at the time of construction. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the oldest security printers still operating, produces the series with genuine banknote paper and a security thread, giving these souvenirs more technical credibility than most tourist novelties.
