The EuroSouvenir program was launched in 2015 as a licensed novelty scheme — zero face value, legal format, but deliberately non-monetary. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints them to the same security specifications as genuine euro notes, including proper intaglio and UV-reactive elements, which makes them genuinely interesting as print artifacts even if they carry no transactional weight. Einstein's inclusion is unsurprising given his near-universal recognizability, though it's worth noting he renounced his German citizenship in 1933 and died an American, making "European icon" a loose claim at best.
