The zero euro souvenir note program was launched in 2015 by Richard Faille, a French entrepreneur, initially targeting tourist sites as a low-cost collectible with no redemption value and therefore no legal or monetary regulatory burden. Oberthur prints them to genuine banknote specification — same security paper, same intaglio printing — which is precisely the point. The tactile authenticity is the product.

Mont-Saint-Michel's edition is among the higher-volume releases in the series, given the site's position as one of France's most-visited landmarks. Scarcity is not this note's argument.
