EuroSouvenir notes are a collector-driven series begun in 2015 under license from the European Central Bank, which permits zero-denomination issues provided they cannot be confused with legal tender. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the few security printers authorized to produce them, handles much of the French regional output from its Rennes facility.

The Abbaye aux Hommes was founded by William the Conqueror in 1066 as partial penance for his marriage to Matilda of Flanders — a union the Pope had initially refused to sanction. William is buried there, or rather partially: his tomb was desecrated during the Wars of Religion and again during the Revolution, leaving only a thigh bone by the time the chaos subsided.
