Obverse description The central vignette presents an aerial view of the Amsterdam Olympisch Stadion (1928) rendered in intaglio-style engraving in shades of magenta and rose, occupying the right two-thirds of the note. To the upper centre, the coat of arms of Amsterdam is displayed above the stadium. At upper left, the European Union flag vignette is printed in blue and yellow, accompanied by the year date '2025-9' and a bold zero denomination numeral in guilloche underprint. The EURO SOUVENIR logotype appears at lower centre in multicolour letterpress, with the CEO facsimile signature and series prefix at lower right.

Comments

EuroSouvenir's zero-denomination series occupies a peculiar niche: legal-format novelty notes printed to genuine security-paper standards by Oberthur Fiduciaire, the same Rennes-based house responsible for banknotes issued by several African central banks. The 750th anniversary of Amsterdam's founding — traditionally dated to 1275, when Count Floris V granted toll-free passage to inhabitants at the Amstel dam — is the hook here. Whether 1275 constitutes a true founding or simply the earliest surviving written record is a question Dutch historians have debated for decades.
