The banknote commemorates Amsterdam`s 750th anniversary by depicting iconic landmarks. Once a moat encircling medieval Amsterdam, the Singel is now the innermost canal in the city`s UNESCO World Heritage-listed canal ring. It attracts visitors in part due to its picturesque bridges, historic canal houses, and proximity to Amsterdam`s most popular neighborhoods, including its own Red Light District. The Mint Tower can be seen in the background. |
