The Austrian sitcom *Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter* ran from 1975 to 1979 on ORF, and its protagonist Edmund "Mundl" Sackbauer — a gruff, politically incorrect Viennese working-class anti-hero played by Karl Merkatz — became one of the most recognizable figures in Austrian television history. This commemorative zero-euro note marks fifty years since the character's debut. Printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire in France, it belongs to the souvenir collector series that has flooded the European market since around 2015, produced to euro banknote specifications but carrying no monetary value and no Eurosystem authorization.

Oberthur supplies the bulk of these tourist-market pieces; the inclusion of a security thread and hologram is a production standard for the series rather than an anti-counterfeiting necessity.
