EuroSouvenir notes occupy a peculiar niche: legal-tender face value of zero, produced under license from the European Central Bank, and sold directly to collectors as commemorative objects rather than issued through any banking channel. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the major French security printers with deep roots in the banknote industry, handles the physical production — the paper and watermark are genuine security-grade materials, which is the point.
This third release in the Apollo 11 fiftieth-anniversary subseries was timed to the July 2018 collector market, roughly a year ahead of the actual 1969 anniversary date.
