| Obverse description | The right half of the note is dominated by a large intaglio vignette of the stone monument of Tecun Uman, the K'iche' Maya warrior and national hero, set against a stepped pyramid structure, with the caption TECUN UMAN HEROE NACIONAL at the lower right. To the left, a polychrome guilloche underprint in rose tones carries a small vignette of a quetzal bird in flight and a stylised Mayan codex figure in red and green, flanked by the fractional denomination 1/2 in the lower corners. Three signature lines across the lower centre are captioned GERENTE, PRESIDENTE, and CONTRALOR GENERAL DE CUENTAS, with the authorization date printed vertically in red at the right margin. |

The large numeral Q0.50 in outline letterpress occupies the left field, while the inscription CINCUENTA CENTAVOS DE QUETZAL appears to the upper right. The border is formed by a geometric Mayan-motif guilloche band in brown and amber, with the denomination 1/2 repeated in the lower corners alongside small quetzal bird ornaments, and a frieze of Maya glyphs runs along the upper register beneath the bank name. |
