Ollería is a small municipality in the comarca of La Vall d'Albaida, Valencia. Like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency — moneda de necesidad — to address a near-total collapse in small coin availability after silver and copper were hoarded or withdrawn. The Republican government sanctioned but did not standardize these issues, leaving design, denominations, and materials entirely to local discretion.

The thick card stock construction was typical of Valencian municipal issues from this period, where proper banknote paper was simply unavailable to small-town administrations working with whatever commercial printers were on hand.
