Campotéjar is a small municipality in the province of Granada, and like hundreds of similarly sized Spanish towns, it was forced to produce its own emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after the Republic's central authorities proved unable to supply sufficient low-denomination coinage. The Consejo Municipal issues of this period were purely local instruments — valid only within the issuing municipality and backed by nothing more than the town's word.
The 0.15 peseta denomination is one of the more awkward fractional values to appear in Spanish Civil War municipal issues, suggesting real-world transactional pressure rather than a schematic approach to filling out a denomination set.
