Reverse description Athena Promachos striding vigorously to the right in martial posture, her right arm raised brandishing a thunderbolt and her left arm extended bearing a large round shield. A small owl stands to the right in the field, facing, rendered in the compact style typical of Syracusan civic bronzes. The composition reflects the close association of the city with both Athena and Zeus during the reign of Pyrrhus, under whose influence this issue was struck.
