Caiatia was a Samnite settlement in the Campanian interior — modern Caiazzo — that gained the right to strike its own bronze coinage following Rome's gradual consolidation of the region after the Samnite Wars. The issues are rare enough that the surviving corpus is largely reconstructed from a handful of dispersed collection pieces, hence the multiple SNG references tracking individual specimens rather than type populations.
