| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet with raised cheek-guards, rendered in a sturdy Messapian style. The facial features, though worn, retain a bold, archaic quality characteristic of southern Italian bronze coinage of the early Hellenistic period. The flan is irregular and the relief relatively high, consistent with hammered production. |
