| Reverse description | A kithara (lyre) depicted frontally at the centre of the field, its resonating body, upright arms, crossbar, and multiple strings carefully rendered in relief. Flanking the kithara on either side is the Greek ethnic legend ΡΗΓΙ to the left and ΝΩΝ to the right, reading ΡΗΓΙΝΩΝ (of the Rheginians), inscribed in Greek characters. The design is set within a dotted border running along the upper periphery of the flan. The kithara, a symbol associated with Apollo and the musical heritage of Rhegion, is a recurring device on the city's bronze coinage of this period. |
