| Obverse description | Bearded head of Zeus Ammon facing right, rendered in bold relief with characteristic ram's horn curling behind the ear, the hair rendered in wavy, deeply engraved locks. The facial features display a full beard with carefully delineated curls, conveying the syncretic Greco-Egyptian deity. The field is plain, with no legend or inscription present. |

| Additional information |
Aphytis was a small polis on the Pallene peninsula of Chalcidice, better known in antiquity for its sanctuary of Zeus Ammon — one of the few sites outside Egypt and Libya where that cult held genuine local roots. The city's coinage was modest in scale and largely confined to small bronze issues for local exchange, reflecting a community that never achieved the commercial weight of its Macedonian neighbors.
The chronological range assigned to this type spans the late Macedonian period through Roman annexation, meaning these bronzes circulated across a dramatically shifting political environment without the issuing authority changing the type.
