Obverse description Janiform laureate head of the two-faced deity Janus, depicted in profile facing both left and right simultaneously, rendered in a bold, archaic Punic style. The two faces share a common neck and are crowned with a laurel wreath, the leaves rendered in stylized fashion. A dotted border encircles the flan. The modeling of the facial features reflects the hybrid Greco-Punic artistic tradition prevalent in Sicilian Carthaginian coinage of the late 3rd century BC.
