Chersonesos was a Dorian colony founded by Herakleia Pontika on the southwestern tip of Crimea, and its bronze coinage from this period reflects a city asserting independent civic identity while remaining economically dependent on grain trade with the Greek mainland. The Anokhin sequence places this type within a tightly clustered chronological band tied to the city's early autonomous issues, before the pressures of Scythian encroachment and later Pontic dominance reshaped its monetary policy entirely.
