Obverse description A scallop shell depicted in high relief, viewed from the convex side, with prominent radiating ribs extending from the umbo toward the outer margin. The shell fills the entire flan and is rendered with careful attention to naturalistic detail, characteristic of the skilled engravers working at Tarentum. No legend or inscription appears in the field.

Reverse description A kithara with six strings depicted in the center of the field, its resonating box rendered in detailed relief with a trapezoidal base and upright arms connected by a crossbar. To the left of the instrument, a short olive branch with leaves is shown. The type is uninscribed, with no legend present in the field, consistent with the small module bronze coinage of late Tarentum.
