Obverse description Eagle of Zeus depicted standing to right, its head turned downward, perched upon a ram's head facing right. The bird's plumage is rendered with fine detail, its talons firmly gripping the trophy element below. The composition fills the flan and is executed in the archaic Italiote style typical of Krotoniate bronzes of the late fifth to early fourth century BC. The field is plain, with no legend or subsidiary devices.
