The Euboian League was a short-lived federal experiment, reconstituted around 304 BC after Cassander's influence over central Greece created pressure for regional consolidation among the island's cities. Chalkis dominated the arrangement, though Eretria and other poleis retained nominal participation. The league collapsed well before mid-century, which compresses the entire production window for this type into roughly fifteen years of intermittent federal authority.
BCD 48 is among the smaller bronzes attributed to the league's output — a denomination struck for local exchange rather than inter-regional trade.
