| Obverse description | Bare male head facing right, rendered in a provincial Ibero-Roman artistic style characteristic of the late pre-Roman period in Lusitania. The facial features are boldly modelled with a prominent nose and a strongly defined chin, the hair rendered in a summary fashion across the crown. A Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading CANTNIP · EDNI AE · F, distributed around the field. The flan is irregular, typical of hand-struck bronzes of the southwestern Iberian Peninsula in the second century BC. |
