| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two tuna fish depicted in profile, swimming to the right, arranged horizontally across the field, a motif strongly associated with the fishing-industry wealth of the southwestern Iberian coastal communities. Between or around the fish, a South-Lusitanian (Southwestern script) legend is inscribed, referencing the issuing community of Beuibum. The flan is irregularly shaped with edge irregularities and heavy green patination. The die engraving is bold and schematic, typical of Iberian provincial coinage of the 2nd century BC. The tuna motif reflects the economic importance of Atlantic tuna fishing to the Turduli people of the Sado estuary region. |
