| 背面描述 | Athena Itonia depicted in dynamic stride to the right, her right arm raised and extended forward as she hurls a spear, while her left arm bears a round shield. The figure is rendered with vigor typical of Hellenistic military iconography. The ethnic legend ΘEΣΣAΛΩN is distributed across the field, with the magistrate name ΦI-ΛOK appearing above the spear, AΣ-OP divided across the central field, and a ΓΑ monogram positioned in the inner right field. |

The Thessalian League's federal coinage emerged after Macedonia's grip on the region loosened following the death of Antigonus Doson and the broader destabilization of Macedonian hegemony in Greece. The trichalkon denomination — worth three chalkoi — was the workhorse of the league's bronze issues, circulating through the inland markets and sanctuaries of Larissa, Pharsalos, and the surrounding plains cities that dominated league politics.
Rogers' classification of this type has been refined several times since his 1932 corpus, with die studies suggesting production was concentrated in shorter, intensive campaigns rather than continuous output across the full eighty-year span.
