Suinthila ruled as sole king from 621 after serving as a military commander under Sisebut, and his reign saw the final expulsion of Byzantine forces from the Iberian Peninsula — the last imperial foothold eliminated around 624. Tremisses struck in his name at Elvora (modern Évora, in present-day Portugal) are among the more regionally specific issues of his coinage, reflecting the Visigothic practice of authorizing mints across provincial centers rather than concentrating production at Toledo.
He was deposed by Sisenand in 631 with Frankish military backing, abruptly ending this series.
