Obverse description Facing bust of the king in the central field, depicted in a highly stylized, schematic manner characteristic of late Visigothic coinage, showing a frontal face with large eyes and a suggestion of robed shoulders with crossed hands below. The bust is enclosed within an elongated oval or mandorla-like outline. The surrounding circular legend reads + SISENANTVS REX, with cross pattée stops, executed in crude but legible Latin capitals around the periphery of the flan.
