Sisebut (also rendered Sisebuto) ruled the Visigothic Kingdom from 612 to 621 and is one of the more historically legible Visigothic kings — a literate monarch who corresponded with Frankish and Lombard courts and authored a hagiographic poem on Saint Desiderius. His reign saw the forced conversion of the Iberian Jewish population, a policy that set precedents his successors would repeatedly revisit.
