Obverse description Facing bust of King Recceswinth rendered in the highly stylised, late antique manner characteristic of Visigothic coinage, depicted with a diademed or helmeted head and schematic facial features. The bust is shown facing forward with simplified drapery indicated below the neck, occupying the central field. Flanking the bust and filling the field are groups of pellets and stylised decorative elements typical of the Visigothic tremissis series. The circumferential Latin legend reads + RECCESVINTVS P, arranged around the periphery of the flan. The rim is defined by a beaded border.
