Reverse description Central field features a floriated cross pattée with fleurs-de-lis at each arm terminal, set within a plain inner circle. Small ornamental pellets or annulets appear in the angles between the cross arms. A rose or floral ornament is visible at the top of the legend border, serving as a mint or decorative mark. The surrounding legend, bearing the devotional inscription in Latin, runs along the beaded outer border; the legend contains a die-cutter's error, reading HOC SIGNO VINCESC in place of the intended IN HOC SIGNO VINCES. The overall execution is characteristic of mid-16th-century Portuguese hammered silver coinage.
