Obverse description Artemis Parthenos depicted in a crouching posture facing right, the nude or lightly draped figure kneeling upon a ground line with knees drawn up. The goddess holds a bow in her extended left hand and an arrow in her right, rendered in a vigorous, archaic-influenced style characteristic of Chersonesian bronze coinage of the late 4th century BC. The figure is carefully modeled with attention to musculature, and the field is otherwise plain.
