(Translation: Moneta nova Lucernensis. New coin of Lucerne.)
Reverse description Central field displays the crowned imperial coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire bearing a displayed double-headed eagle, with the smaller shield of Lucerne positioned below. Two heraldic lions serve as supporters flanking the central arms. Surrounding the central composition, arranged in a circular border, are fifteen square shields bearing the arms of the Lucerne bailiwicks, reading clockwise: Rothenburg, Entlebuch, Sempach, Triengen, Malters, Kriens, Merenschwand, Ebikon, Weggis, Horw, Habsburg, Münster, Sursee, Ruswil, and Willisau. The overall layout reflects the hierarchical political structure of the Lucerne confederate territories in the early sixteenth century.
