| Reverse description | Tortoise depicted schematically from above, its domed carapace divided into segmented scutes rendered in relief, with the head, four splayed limbs, and short tail visible at the margins. The creature is set within a beaded (dotted) square border, the whole contained within a deeply recessed incuse square, a characteristic feature of early Lycian hammered coinage. The incuse square is divided, with one portion notably raised relative to the other, reflecting the anvil die technique of the period. The field outside the beaded border but within the incuse square is plain. |
