Reverse description A fully open rose in bloom occupies the central field, depicted facing upward with two large rounded petals in the foreground and additional petals behind, supported by a curved stem with flanking leaves and a bud to the right. To the left of the stem, a forepart of a lion or similar device appears as a secondary control symbol. The ethnic legend ΡΟ appears below the rose at either side of the stem, identifying the issuing city of Rhodes. Above, the magistrate's name ΣTAΣIΩN is inscribed in Greek letters across the upper field. The entire design is encircled by a border of raised dots, a hallmark of Rhodian tetradrachm coinage of this period.
