Obverse description Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with richly modelled, flowing curls framing the face. A prominent ram's horn of Ammon curves forward above the ear, identifying the portrait as that of the deified conqueror. The diadem is visible across the forehead, its ends trailing into the hair behind. The portrait is deeply struck with high relief, filling the flan, with no legend in the field.

Reverse description Athena Nikephoros enthroned left, wearing helmet and aegis, holding in her extended right hand a winged Nike who crowns the royal name with a wreath. Athena's left arm rests upon a large round shield decorated with a lion's head boss, while a long transverse spear rises behind her. The throne is adorned with a dolphin and a monogram in the inner left field. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ ('of King Lysimachus') is disposed in two lines in the right field and below Athena.
