背面描述 Athena Nikephoros seated left on a throne, wearing a crested helmet, aegis, and drapery, her extended right hand presenting a small figure of Nike who holds a wreath. Her left arm rests on a large round shield decorated with a lion-head device, and a spear leans against her left shoulder. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to the right and ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ to the left frames the central design. A monogram control mark appears in the lower left field, and a further control symbol is present in the exergue below the throne line.

附加信息

Lysimachus seized Pergamum from his former subordinate Philetaerus around 302 BC, garrisoning it as a treasury stronghold — a decision that would ultimately backfire. When Lysimachus was killed at the Battle of Corupedium in 281 BC, Philetaerus held the treasury and used its contents to found what became the Attalid dynasty. These tetradrachms, struck at Pergamum in the king's final years, were produced within the institution that would outlast him by over a century.
