Obverse description Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with flowing, voluminous hair swept back from the brow. The horn of Ammon curls conspicuously above the ear, asserting Alexander's divine association with the Egyptian god Zeus-Ammon. A dotted border frames the design along the upper rim of the flan. A control mark, the letter kappa, appears in the lower exergual area beneath the portrait.
