| Descrizione del dritto | Heroic diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in high relief with luxuriant flowing locks of hair radiating dramatically around the portrait in the characteristic Lysimachean style. A small but distinctive ram's horn of Ammon curls above and behind the ear, asserting Alexander's divine lineage and identification with Zeus-Ammon. The facial features are idealized yet powerful, with a strong brow, prominent nose, and slightly parted lips. The fillet of the diadem is visible crossing the forehead and trailing behind the head. The overall workmanship reflects the accomplished engraving tradition of the Lysimachean mint at Lysimacheia. |
