| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander III of Macedon facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling hair swept back from the brow. The ram's horn of Ammon curls prominently above and in front of the ear, asserting Alexander's divine association with Zeus-Ammon. The portraiture is executed in the idealized Hellenistic manner, with strong facial features, a sharply defined profile, and a naturalistic treatment of the neck and drapery truncation.
