背面描述 Athena Nikephoros seated three-quarter left on a throne, wearing a crested helmet, chiton, and himation draped over her lower body. She holds a small Nike in her extended right hand, who faces left and raises a wreath, while her left arm rests on a large round shield adorned with a lion's head boss. A long spear leans against her left shoulder. The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ appears to the right and ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ to the left in two vertical lines flanking the throne, with a monogram in the exergue identifying the mint of Alexandria Troas.

附加信息

Lysimachus began striking coins in Alexander's name and type decades before adding his own portrait — a deliberate political maneuver to claim legitimacy as a successor rather than a usurper. This Alexandreia issue belongs to the later phase of his reign, when he had consolidated control over Thrace and much of Asia Minor after the Battle of Ipsus in 301 BC eliminated Antigonus as a rival. The Alexandreia mint operated under direct royal supervision, distinguishing its output from the more loosely controlled subsidiary mints.

Lysimachus was killed at the Battle of Corupedium in 281 BC, effectively ending his dynasty within a single generation.
