| Descrizione del dritto | Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with flowing, tousled hair and the distinctive curl of the horn of Ammon emerging above the ear, asserting his divine lineage through Zeus-Ammon. The portraiture is bold and high-relief, with strong facial features and an idealized, heroic quality characteristic of the Lysimachean coinage tradition. The smooth, unadorned field surrounding the effigy draws full attention to the finely engraved portrait. No legend appears on the obverse, in keeping with standard practice for this series. |
