Obverse description Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, depicted with the ram's horn of Ammon curling above and before his ear, identifying him as the son of Zeus-Ammon. The portrait is rendered in the idealized Hellenistic tradition, with fine hair beneath the royal diadem, drawn from the posthumous iconographic type established by Lysimachos to legitimize his rule. The neck is slightly truncated, with no visible drapery at the shoulder.
