Obverse description Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, wearing the horn of Ammon curling above his ear, with flowing locks of hair rendered in bold, naturalistic relief characteristic of the Lysimachean coinage. The portrait displays strong idealizing features with a prominent brow, aquiline nose, and slightly parted lips. A dotted border runs along the coin's edge. The imagery deliberately associates Lysimachos with the divine legacy of Alexander, legitimizing his rule over Thrace.
