| 正面描述 | Fast quadriga driven to left by a bearded charioteer who holds the reins in both hands and the kentron (goad) in his right; the head of the third horse is turned back toward the viewer. Nike flies to right above the scene, extending a wreath to crown the charioteer. The composition conveys vigorous motion characteristic of the finest Syracusan die-engraving of the late fifth century BC. In the exergue, a barley ear is rendered in high relief. |

| 背面描述 | Facing left, the head of the nymph Arethusa is depicted in fine classical style, her hair bound with an ampyx and enclosed in a sphendone. She wears a double-spiral earring and a simple necklace adorned with a prominent spherical pendant. Four dolphins surround her: two swimming downward and one upward in the left field, and a fourth swimming downward behind her neck to the right. The ethnic legend ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙ-Ω-Ν is inscribed around the periphery of the design. |
