Reverse description Facing bucranium (ox skull) rendered in high relief, displayed frontally and occupying the greater part of the field, with prominent curved horns, deeply modelled eye sockets, and a decorative dotted border separating the facial plane from the surrounding hair-like flange. To the right, the city ethnic ΚΥ above ΞΙ is inscribed vertically in two lines, serving as the abbreviated civic legend of Kyzikos. The bold frontal composition is characteristic of the Kyzikene artistic tradition of the mid-fourth century BC.
